I believe strongly that mental health is simply health.
There is an interconnected relationship between the health of an individual, their family, and their community.
My passion lies in integrating the broader perspective of science with the unique experience of individuals, families, and communities.
Achieving improved health can feel overwhelming, but PHDC is committed to a hopeful outlook.
Therapy
I provide therapy that is grounded in research and developmental psychology. My communication style is direct and supportive. I have found that a client’s curiosity and motivation for personal growth is the main ingredient that works well for the style of therapy that I provide. This is true no matter if the client is a young child, adolescent, or adult.
Consultation
Ongoing consultation to both parents and school personnel is something I particularly enjoy; I am energized by the way supporting adults in a concrete way can improve a child’s quality of life without them ever even knowing about it.
For parents of children who are struggling, I can help identify the best next step to take within the confusing world of child mental health evaluation and treatment services.
For schools who want to support struggling students, I can help simplify their referral process so parents are receptive and feel confident in following recommendations.
Community Conversations
Educating the broader community is a crucial part of addressing today’s (mental) health crisis. During the height of the pandemic, I developed the Good Enough Parenting community education series. I have expertise in delivering science-driven information in an accessible, large-scale, and low-cost format that provides relief for communities who are inundated with messages of perfectionism.
